How to Use the Strength Index

📈
Find the Strongest Currency
The currency ranked #1 with the highest score is gaining value against all others. If you need to convert, converting from a weak currency to a strong one now means you get less — consider waiting.
💱
Spot Conversion Opportunities
If you're sending money abroad, converting when your home currency is strong (high score) means you get more of the foreign currency. Compare the two currencies you're exchanging.
📊
Understand Market Momentum
The 7-day change (▲/▼) shows whether a currency is gaining or losing strength. A rising score = improving momentum. A falling score = weakening trend.
⚖️
Compare Two Currencies
The bigger the score gap between two currencies, the more lopsided the exchange rate is vs. the historical average. Use our Historical Charts to see the trend.
How it's calculated: The index measures the 7-day percentage change of each currency against 7 others (all pairs in the basket), then normalizes all scores to a 0–100 scale where 100 = strongest and 0 = weakest. A score of 50 means the currency is performing in line with the basket average — neither gaining nor losing relative strength. Currencies tracked: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, AUD, CAD, NZD. Rates sourced from Open Exchange Rates and ECB.
